Showcase of New Food Products

The showcase is the culmination of the BA Culinary Arts 3 students’ food product development concepts and techniques module in which the students create a new food product, based on market trends, from concept to launch.

The students merchandise their packaged and labelled products in a “simulated trade show” which is open to students, GMIT staff and industry representatives to view, taste and provide feedback to the students.

Chef Robert Rosbotham a graduate of GMIT and competitor in the 2001 Culinary Olympics held in South Korea, Mike Flynn Musgraves, Caroline McDonough and Ricky Connelly from the Galway Local Enterprise Office, Liam Heneghan Tribal Foods, Noel Leahy Slieve Aughty Honey will be on hand to provide an industries perspective and opinion on the viability of the students products.

Products to be showcased include  a smoked aubergine ketchup, chick pea waffle snack, range of flavoured butters, fruit preserved salmon, roasted lentil and chick pea “bites”, healthy chocolate snack suitable for diabetics and a poitin and sea-vegetable  marinade amongst others.
